LökenLoom…Weaving Then Into Now
I love all things old, but I have a particular fascination with antique and vintage textiles. A tattered piece of handwoven linen, the fraying edge of a primitive rag rug, the faded colors of naturally dyed wool...any fragment of cloth that reflects a bit of the heart and soul of its original maker seems to find its way into my possession. And I love attempting to re-create handwoven cloth from days gone by.
I weave on a large, traditional cherry wood floor loom, in a process nearly identical to the way in which handweavers have woven throughout the centuries. Nothing is automated, nothing is computerized...just natural fiber yarns woven manually, thread by thread, using the simple power of hands, feet, and imagination. Everything in my shop has been created by one person (me!), and a ton of attention and patience, with the hope that others can enjoy the works of an ancient craft practiced in its original form, free from technology and mass production.
Whether you have an interest in history or whether you are simply seeking something beautiful and unique for your home, I hope you enjoy browsing through my shop and taking a little step back in time.
And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
